Kristy, born in 1994, began her musical journey at an early age. At the age of five, she began taking recorder lessons following the Suzuki method, which teaches children to play by ear. Thanks to this background, Kristy has developed a very keen ear for music.

Kristy is a versatile musician specializing in both early and contemporary music. She regularly performs concerts in which she presents a wide array of recorders, often in unique and surprising combinations. She is a valued member of various ensembles.

Together with lutenist Manou Schreiner, Kristy forms
Duo Helia. The duo met at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where their shared love for early music brought them together. In this collaboration, Kristy combines her expertise on recorders with Manou's skills on the lute, theorbo, and (baroque) guitar. The duo focuses on music from the early Renaissance to the late Baroque period, and their performances are delivered with authenticity and respect for the historical context of the music. To achieve this, they use a rich variety of instruments.

Since September 2021, Kristy has been a permanent member of the recorder consort
The Royal Wind Music, a unique ensemble acclaimed worldwide for the timeless beauty of the Renaissance music they perform. Founded in 1997 by Paul Leenhouts, the ensemble has since attracted a broad audience. The ensemble is based in Amsterdam and consists of eleven recorder players who specialize in the music of the Golden Age of polyphony (1520-1640). Through their authentic and lively performances, they bring this rich musical history to life in an engaging way.

Kristy also forms an innovative
recorder duo with Paul Schauenburg, focusing on experimental music and new compositions. Their repertoire consists of a mix of contemporary works, improvisations, and original compositions written specifically for the duo.

Apart from her ensemble engagements, Kristy is in demand for a range of projects, including both solo and orchestral performances.

Besides her activities as a performing musician, Kristy is a professional teacher for both young and old, having obtained her Pabo diploma. She applies her knowledge and expertise in her private teaching practice in Almere and within the
Collectief Muziekonderwijs Abcoude.

Since September 2022, Kristy has been contributing as an editorial member to the magazine 'Blokfluitist', where she manages various sections.

Kristy is currently following her master's degree in recorder at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague under the guidance of main subject teacher Daniël Brüggen. She completed her bachelor's degree at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she was taught by Jorge Isaac, Hester Groenleer, Erik Bosgraaf and María Martínez Ayerza, among others.
